《美國(guó)文學(xué)教程》旨在引導(dǎo)教師和學(xué)生全面系統(tǒng)地了解和研究美國(guó)文學(xué)的發(fā)展歷程,探究美國(guó)社會(huì)思潮以及文化脈絡(luò),學(xué)習(xí)和理解各個(gè)時(shí)期的作家及其作品,提高文學(xué)修養(yǎng),增添文學(xué)興趣,提高英語(yǔ)語(yǔ)言能力、理解能力和欣賞水平。
本教程將美國(guó)文學(xué)按歷史發(fā)展的階段分成四個(gè)部分:殖民地和建國(guó)時(shí)期文學(xué);浪漫主義時(shí)期文學(xué);現(xiàn)實(shí)主義時(shí)期文學(xué);現(xiàn)代主義文學(xué)。本教程共八個(gè)章節(jié),集中介紹了43位美國(guó)著名的文學(xué)家和他們的優(yōu)秀作品。全書以英文為主。每個(gè)章節(jié)均有歷史背景介紹、作家生平簡(jiǎn)介、代表作品選讀、選篇注釋和賞析思考題。并附錄有:美國(guó)文學(xué)編年表、文學(xué)術(shù)語(yǔ)闡述、思考題參考答案和四套綜合練習(xí)題集。
